Núria Rovira’s practice is concerned with swarms, systems and collective consciousness. She is interested in how these qualities are found in nature, places and people. To investigate this, she uses the help of slime mould: a bright yellow living organism with swarming behaviour. She utilizes this intelligent mould as a lens to look at the swarming nature of the city of Lancaster. The slime mould is combined with the action of walking in the city in different experiments. As a result, Nuria suggests that we should look at reality as a complex system, in which there is no such thing as something separate from something else.
